Dine Brands promotes Susan Nelson to chief communications officer

Dine Brands Global, Inc. (NYSE: DIN), the parent company of Applebee's Neighborhood Grill & Bar® and IHOP® restaurants, today announced that Susan Nelson has been promoted to SVP, Chief Communications and Public Affairs Officer. She will continue to report to Chief Executive Officer John Peyton.

Nelson joined Dine Brands in December 2019 as VP of Communications and Public Affairs. Since then, she has globalized the Dine corporate communications function while simultaneously safeguarding the company’s reputation. 

Susan Nelson_CCO Dine Brands Global.JPEGNelson is responsible for all aspects of the company’s communications and public affairs efforts, including Guest Relations. She also co-leads the company’s ESG efforts, Women@Dine Team Member Resource Group, and Dine Brands Foundation. Her work ensures a consistent Dine voice and better connects and assures communication readiness for all issues that impact Dine and our brands. She and her team have been instrumental in strengthening the company’s brand reputation from inside out through communications, team member and guest engagements, and media relations.

Prior to Dine, Susan served as Vice President of Communications for Applebee’s, where she led communications and public relations. She also spent nearly 14 years prior to that with McDonald’s. At the fast-food giant, she held top-tier positions within the U.S. Communications Team.
