Omaha, Neb.-based drive-thru restaurant brand hires former Blue Cross Blue Shield executive

Scooter’s Coffee has named Malorie Maddox as chief marketing officer, the restaurant company announced Monday.

Scooters-Coffee-CMO-Mallorie-Maddox.jpgThe Omaha, Neb.-based company, which has nearly 600 units in 28 states, said Maddox most recently served as chief marketing, communications and strategy officer at Blue Cross Blue Shield Nebraska.

Maddox succeeds Bill Black, who will being moving to another role at the company, a representative said.

The company said Maddox will lead teams in brand management, field marketing, digital, social media and other marketing initiatives.

Prior to joining the insurance industry, Maddox worked for nearly 20 years in journalism, including as a reporter, news producer and on-air anchor at WOWT-TV, the NBC affiliate in Omaha.

Scooter’s was founded in 1998 by Don and Linda Eckles as Scooter’s Java Express in Bellevue, Neb., and is celebrating its 25th anniversary this year.
