Burger King Corp. is expanding its Whopper Melts nationwide and promising more innovations to the signature sandwich in the months ahead.

The Miami-based division of Restaurant Brands International Inc. said the Whopper Melts, tested earlier this year in the Toledo, Ohio, market, are being offered in three varieties:

Whopper Melt: two Whopper Jr. patties (a quarter pound of beef) on slices of toasted bread with American cheese, caramelized onions and “Stacker Sauce.”

Spicy Whopper Melt: The Whopper Melt with creamy spicy sauce in the place of Stacker Sauce.

Bacon Whopper Melt: The Whopper Melt with bacon and Stacker Sauce.

“Guests have loved our iconic flame-grilled Whopper since 1957, and Whopper Melts are the first of more Whopper innovations to come later this year,” the company said in a press release.

Burger King, founded in 1954, had 19,247 restaurants globally in the fourth quarter 2021, ended Dec. 31. The brand, owned by the Toronto-based RBI, operates in more than 100 countries and U.S. territories.
