Applebee’s turns over its Instagram to #Fantographers (Adweek)
Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill & Bar is turning over the feed on its Instagram photo-sharing platform to its customers. For the next year, guests can opt in at a permissions microsite, tag photos with the #Applebees or #Fantographer hashtag and the casual-dining chain will repost user-generated images with a special border. The company said it has already seen 779,000 #Applebees-tagged photos on Instagram. Some Instagram photos will also be used on Applebee’s Facebook and Twitter accounts.

Study: Food a key ingredient for people’s affinity for cities (CityLab)
Urban-planning firm Sasaki Associates commission a survey in six cities (Austin, Texas; Boston; Chicago; New York; San Francisco; and Washington, D.C.) and found that 82 percent of respondents appreciate their city’s culinary offerings. New restaurants were the top reason nearly half the respondents gave for exploring different parts of their cities. A majority of those surveyed also said restaurants were the most outstanding aspect of cities they love to visit.
