Bobrick offers guide for ADA-compliant restrooms

Supplier News

Bobrick Washroom Equipment Inc. has developed a guide that addresses the new building standards promulgated under the updated Americans with Disabilities Act, or ADA.

Bobrick’s “Planning Guide for Accessible Restrooms” discusses requirements contained in the 2010 ADA Standards for Accessible Design for restaurant and other commercial bathrooms. The new ADA regulations accommodate individuals with disabilities who might require the use of wheelchairs, crutches or canes. However, they also have been shown to benefit individuals with stability and balance issues, people with temporary health problems, the elderly, children, individuals who are short or tall and people who are large or heavy.

Bobrick’s study discusses such issues as space requirements and reach ranges, how to plan an accessible restroom, and the use of such accessories as soap dispensers and child-protection seats.
