The 10 biggest limited-service pizza restaurants in America

It was an interesting year for limited-service pizza restaurants, with the largest seeing declines in systemwide sales in 2022, but others in the Top 10 growing by as much as 18%.

Every year, Nation’s Restaurant News and Datassential partner to present The Top 500, the definitive sales ranking of restaurants in America.

One element of this data is restaurant segment, meaning each can be broken down by systemwide domestic sales, units, and estimated sales per unit. NRN has been analyzing the Top 10 restaurant chains in each segment by sales.

Nearly 10% of the Top 500 restaurant chains — 47 in total — were in the limited-service pizza segment. Of 10 largest, three of them (including the two largest) saw a decline in systemwide sales last year, but six others saw growth in the double-digit percentages.

Despite these big swings, there was no movement in the top six rankings. The bottom four, however, saw a lot of rearranging, with two chains moving up, one moving down, and one entering the Top 10 (Jet’s replaced Chuck E. Cheese, despite the latter seeing an 8.5% jump in systemwide sales).
