Metromedia CEO Dover resigns

PLANO Texas Clay Dover late Tuesday said that he had resigned as president and chief executive of Metromedia Restaurant Group, parent to the Bennigan’s Grill & Tavern, Bonanza, Ponderosa and Steak & Ale chains.

“There was a difference in opinion between ownership and myself for the strategic direction for the company,” said Dover, who had served in the posts since last year. Prior to that, he had been chief concept officer for the company, which has more than 700 restaurants. He said he had no immediate plans for his next move.

Dover helped create the new Bennigan’s Sport concept, expanded the 29 Degree Tavern and developed a national remodeling program for company and franchise restaurants.

MRG has restaurants in 16 countries in two divisions. Metromedia Casual Dining oversees Bennigan’s Grill & Tavern, Steak & Ale and The Tavern concepts. Metromedia Family Steakhouses manages the Ponderosa and Bonanza steakhouses.
