KFC announced Wednesday that they would be hiring 20,000 full- and part-time employees at corporate- and franchise-owned locations across the country. The open positions vary by restaurant but include roles at all levels including hourly team members (cooks, prep and customer service), shift leaders, assistant managers and general managers.
During its Q1 earnings call, the quick-service chicken chain announced 11% same-store sales growth across two years.
“KFC has seen tremendous growth and sustained demand in the U.S. over the last year. Our franchisees have a real need to fill a variety of positions on their teams,” said John Kurnick, chief people officer at KFC U.S., in a statement.
“Many of our franchise owners and brand leaders started their careers working in our restaurants, and restaurant jobs have always presented unique opportunities for those looking to learn new skills, whether in management, in the kitchen, through customer service or beyond.”

Local McDonald’s operators across Alabama are looking for approximately 3,000 new employees in anticipation for the busy summer season. 1,500 of those jobs are expected to be filled specifically in Birmingham.

McDonald’s reported a 13.6% increase in domestic same-store sales for Q1 and credited the new chicken sandwich and BTS promotions for the financial success, as well in the surge in digital sales.

At a national hiring event on May 19, Beaumont, Texas-based Jason’s Deli is planning to hire 500 new employees. The open positions include delivery driver, front of house, back of house, shift supervisor and assistant manager for the chain’s 250 units across the country.
The event will take place in-person at all of the chain’s restaurants.
“We’re looking for people who want more than just a job,” said Jason’s Deli president and chief operations officer Ragan Edgerly in a statement. “Jason’s Deli is growing, and we have a lot of opportunities for people who want to grow with us.”

The 180-unit casual-dining chain declared May “National Hiring Month” at its restaurants as it prepares to hire 2,000 workers.
According to a recent employee survey conducted by Atlanta-based Mellow Mushroom, team members say good tips, flexible work schedules and Mellow Mushroom’s unique vibe and culture contribute to a positive work experience.

South Florida-based restaurant groups Breakwater Hospitality Group and Grove Bay Hospitality Group announced they would be partnering to staff the 12,000-square-foot restaurant Ch’i. The Miami restaurant is the first collaboration between the two hospitality groups and will add 125 jobs to the group portfolios.
Additionally, each employee who signs on will receive a $1,000 signing bonus after three months of employment.
