Working Lunch: Chicago proposes a universal basic income

The city’s pilot project could spur on nationwide discussion

This week’s episode from Align Public Strategies covers a pilot project on the table in Chicago. The city is proposing an initiative to establish a universal basic income for some residents that will be displaced by the new economy and automation. Considering the size and importance of Chicago, it could accelerate the national conversation around universal basic income.

Additionally, the Align team discusses the joint employer settlement between McDonald’s and the NLRB that was rejected by an administrate law judge. The episode also includes the weekly legislative scorecard.

Align Public Strategies is a full-service public affairs and creative firm that helps corporate brands, governments and non-profit organizations navigate the outside world and inform their internal decision-making.
