How Uber drones deliver Big Macs

Testing of airspace management system is underway in Southern California

Uber Technologies Inc. revealed last week how it plans to disrupt the competitive delivery space with meal drops by drone in San Diego.

The drone tests will involve all types of restaurants, including fine dining, a sector that has not embraced the third-party delivery movement.  Uber began testing its new airspace management system, dubbed Uber Elevate, with Uber Eats partner McDonald’s Corp. in May.

Later this year, the brand said it will test meal drops from Richard Blais’ popular San Diego restaurant, Juniper & Ivy.

The San Diego-based fine-dining venue told Nation’s Restaurant News what it plans to offer on the drone menu. Based on the McDonald’s drone experiment, here’s how Uber plans to disrupt the delivery space with drone delivery.
