Brinker 1Q profit rises 4.8%

Same-store sales fall at Chili’s brand, rise at Maggiano’s

Brinker International Inc. reported on Wednesday an increase in profit for the Sept. 25-ended first quarter. The Dallas-based parent of the Chili’s Grill & Bar and Maggiano’s Little Italy casual-dining chains said revenues rose slightly, primarily on the acquisition of 11 restaurants in Canada.

NET INCOME

Result: $29.2 million, or 42 cents per share
% Increase: 4.8% (from $27.9 million, or 36 cents per share)

REVENUE

Result: $683.9 million
% Increase: 0.1% (from $683.5 million)

SAME-STORE SALES

% Decrease systemwide: 1.3%


% Decrease at Chili's: 1.9%


% Increase at Maggiano's Little Italy: 0.6%
