Taco Bell adds $1 Loaded Nacho Taco, tests churro doughnut

The breakfast churro, also priced at $1, is in test in Missouri

The ever-rotating Taco Bell dollar menu is welcoming a new item as the chain prepares to phase out Nacho Fries after its third tour of duty on the menu.

The $1 Loaded Nacho Taco, which is stuffed with seasoned beef, nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, cheese, and “Southwest” seasoned chips, lands on the nationwide Cravings Value Menu April 4, Taco Bell said Thursday.

Taco Bell said customers can “turn up the heat” on the Loaded Nacho Taco by requesting sliced jalapeños. The peppers can also be found on the Steak Rattlesnake Fries, a limited-time item introduced in late February to build on the popularity of Nacho Fries.

The Nacho Fries, which sell for $1.59 in the Southern California market, were recently named NRN’s Best New Item for the 2019 MenuMasters awards.  They drop off the menu soon, but Taco Bell promises they’ll be back as part of a new menu item later this year.

Also on Thursday, Taco Bell said it would be testing a $1 churro donut Kansas City, Mo., and a Double Beef Quesarito in Charlotte, N.C. The items land on menus April 4 in each market.

“The $1 Churro Donut is everything you know and love about a churro in the shape of a doughnut,” Taco Bell said.  The circular churro is deep fried until golden brown and dusted with cinnamon sugar. The mashup will be available à la carte during breakfast hours in Kansas City for a $1.

The Double Beef Quesarito is a burrito filled with seasoned beef and rice, cheese, sour cream, and chipotle sauce. The burrito is then wrapped with a beef quesadilla. Cost: $3.49 or $5 when purchasing the chain’s signature combo box that includes two crunchy tacos and a medium drink.
