Starbucks debuts ‘Mini’ Frappuccino

Smaller beverage introduced after customer requests

Starbucks Corp. debuted Monday a new 10-ounce “Mini” size to its Frappuccino line in response to customer requests.

The Mini Frappuccino, offered in any Frappuccino flavor, is available for a limited time through July 6 at all U.S. locations and in Canada. The size is smaller than the 12-ounce “Tall,” which was previously the smallest size on the menu.

The Minis were tested in various regions last year after customers asked for a more modest serving size through the My Starbucks Idea website. The serving size was tested in various U.S. markets last year.

The Mini size intends to allow customers to cut back on calories and cost.

Calories will vary depending on the flavor selected, but a drink made with regular coffee and no whipped cream reportedly might have 120 calories and 24 grams of sugar for the Mini size, compared with 180 calories and 36 grams of sugar for a 12-oz. Tall version.

Pricing also varies by market, but Starbucks officials said a Mini would cost about 20 cents to 30 cents less than a Tall.
