Pizza Hut drops its first-ever streetwear collection: Tastewear

The capsule collection draws on nostalgia of iconic styles and colors of the quick-service chain

Pizza Hut is getting into the streetwear game, dropping its first collection of wearable merchandise. The collection, called Tastewear, will be the “first of many” Hut Shop drops for sale on the Yum Brand subsidiary’s new website, pizzahutshop.com. It will be available today.

“We’re so excited to give our biggest fans a chance to show off their pizza love through fun, trending streetwear-inspired pieces that are still classically Pizza Hut,” said Lindsay Morgan, chief marketing officer for Pizza Hut. “From the bejeweled pepperoni chain to the classic red cups, our team thoughtfully crafted the details to give fans nationwide a fresh way to show off their Pizza Hut love.”

Modeling itself after streetwear brands like Supreme and shoe companies like Nike, the Plano, Texas-based quick-service restaurant chain is trying to reach younger customers interested in limited-edition releases.

Pizza Hut is trying to grab nostalgia with this new collection. The five items – a track suit, slides, a chain, a t-shirt and cups – are all based on iconic Pizza Hut styles and colors.

The company describes the t-shirts as being “inspired by the [Tiffany] lamp that lit oh-so-many family dinners and youth sports team parties.” Of the red cups, the brand says: “If you know, you know. Those red cups that forever changed your childhood have inspired this new set of four for a sip of nostalgia.”

A marketing campaign, called Newstalgia, “brings to life iconic elements people love most about the brand in modern and relevant ways.” Yet-to-be-released TV spots will star ‘The Office’ actor and comedian Craig Robinson.

Prices range from $99.99 to $9.99. Get a look at the brand’s first drop here.
