Pizza Hut CFO Michael Diamond exits, takes role at parent of Michaels stores

Pizza Hut names 30-year chain veteran, Charlie Short, as interim financial chief

Michael Diamond, chief financial officer for the U.S. business of Pizza Hut, is leaving the chain this week to become part of the executive leadership at The Michaels Companies Inc. 

The Plano, Texas-based pizza brand said franchise development executive, Charlie Short, will act as interim chief financial officer for Pizza Hut U.S. He was recently promoted to the role of vice president of franchise business development. Short has been with the brand for 30 years.

Throughout his seven years at Pizza Hut, Diamond led finance, legal, supply chain and strategy teams in the U.S. and Europe.

“We appreciate Mike’s leadership and many contributions to the brand over 6+ years both internationally and most recently with Pizza Hut U.S. We wish him well in the next chapter of his career,” the company said in a statement.

On Aug. 20, The Michaels Companies, parent of craft retailer Michaels, named Diamond as the company’s new executive vice president-CFO. He starts Sept. 1. The company has more than 1,270 Michaels stores in 49 states and Canada.
