McDonald’s pushes ‘Dunks’ promotion center court

Quick-service brand follows ‘Hacks’ campaign with own combinations and deals

McDonald’s Corp. is hacking its own menu for a March basketball “Dunks” promotion.

The Chicago-based burger brand is offering the special Dunks deals and promotions through its smartphone application and McDelivery via DoorDash along with taste-combination ideas.

McDonald's Apple-Pie_McFlurry_1080x1080.png“We know our fans love an epic dunk, on and off the court,” the company said in announcing the “Dunks” campaign. “From a Big Mac dipped in ranch to Chicken McNuggets dunked in, well…any sauce, we’ve seen your endless creativity when it comes to slam-dunk flavor combos. That’s why, during March, we’re serving up an irresistible lineup of deals on some of your fave dunks.” Some of the combination deals extend through April 4.

The “Dunks” campaign coincides with the NCAA March Madness basketball tournaments and follows the TikTok customer-based “Hacks” campaign that launched Jan. 31 and ended in February.

“In honor of March basketball, we’re providing fans with suggested pairings — each tied to a different in-app or McDelivery offer — that they can order individually and have fun dunking on their own,” a company spokesperson said.

For example, March 24 through March 27 McDonald’s will offering a free Crispy Chicken Sandwich with a sweet and sour sauce with a purchase of $20 or more during non-breakfast hours through the McDelivery via DoorDash app and the promo code: BASKETBALL. The campaign is also using the hashtag of #UpYourDunkGame

McDonald’s USA includes about 13,500 U.S. restaurants.
