McDonald’s and Subway announce free delivery as more U.S. states order residents to shelter in place

The national chains join other brands who have added promotions through third-party delivery operators like Uber Eats and DoorDash

McDonald’s is offering free delivery for consumers through April 6, signaling the need to offer diners cost-saving options as more residents are forced to shelter-in-place for an unknown amount of time across the U.S.

On Wednesday, Subway announced free delivery for a limited time through Uber Eats, DoorDash, Postmates, Grubhub and Seamless. Consumers can use the promo code: SUBWAYNOW.

Since last week, other national chains have been offering free delivery including Chipotle Mexican Grill, Taco Bell and Del Taco. Participating Saladworks stores are also offering free delivery on orders placed through its website. Restrictions vary by brand.

KFC is offering free delivery through Grubhub or orders placed on its website through April 26.

McDonald’s said even though some restaurants have closed in the U.S., a majority have been offering carryout, drive-thru and delivery services.

The free delivery offer is good on Uber Eats and DoorDash orders of $15 or more.
