News

GLENDALE Calif. To make their businesses more guest friendly and increase the efficiency of operations, The Basement Cafe in the landmark Federal Savings building and a Quiznos Sub branch at 318 N. Brand Blvd. here now are fielding food-and-beverage orders sent via text messages or instant messaging.

Basement Cafe owner Adam Yegyan said the mobile ordering technology and services provided by ClickIt Technologies of Los Angeles "allow our customers to zip in and zip out in our very busy environment." He added, "We feel that many customers that would normally not have the time to place a 'to go' order with us are now placing orders from their cell phone."

ClickIt representatives said that to use the mobile ordering service, consumers must register their cell phone number, credit card information, screen names and ZIP code; they then can acquire the text codes for their favorite foods and drinks and initiate and pay for an order by sending text or instant messages. They said the ClickIt technology does not require phones and mobile devices to support Web browser software and that it will auto trigger a print-out at the restaurant point-of-sale terminal with details of the transaction, including buyer information, order specifics and delivery or pick-up arrangements.
