True Food Kitchen has named Chandon Clenard as corporate brand chef, the Phoenix-based chain said Thursday.
Clenard replaces Arik Markus, who left True Food Kitchen last year.
Clenard has been with the health-focused casual-dining chain since the spring and developed its new summer menu. The lineup includes an heirloom tomato and watermelon appetizer with Marcona almonds, white balsamic and chèvre cheese, and pan-roasted chicken with corn, green chickpeas, Fresno chile, feta and cilantro pumpkin seed pesto.
Clenard, a California native, was most recently senior associate director of culinary strategic initiatives at Stanford University.
Before joining Stanford, Clenard was executive chef of Border Grill in Santa Monica, Calif. Previously, he was executive chef of Blue Mermaid in San Francisco, and earlier owned a nutrition-focused catering company, Edge Catering and Sports Nutrition.
True Food Kitchen’s menu is based on the Anti-Inflammatory Diet of Andrew Weil, who co-founded the chain with restaurateur Sam Fox. The chain, which is owned by Fox Restaurant Concepts and the private-equity firm Centerbridge Partners LP, will open its 20th restaurant on July 19 in King of Prussia, Pa.
