Red Robin promotes Dana Benfield to marketing chief

Company veteran succeeds Jonathan Muhtar

Red Robin Gourmet Burgers has promoted Dana Benfield to chief marketing officer, the casual-dining company said Thursday.

Benfield most recently served as vice president for marketing and menu innovation at the Greenwood Village, Colo.-based company. She succeeds Jonathan Muhtar, who will assume the position of chief concept officer on Jan. 1.

Benfield (left), who has worked in the brand’s marketing division for 15 years, will oversee Red Robin's brand marketing and guest engagement teams, as well as lead the company's food and beverage and commercialization initiatives. She will report to Muhtar.

"Since joining Red Robin, Dana has eagerly taken on new responsibilities and grown into a trusted leader, developing a talented marketing team and making many valuable contributions to the Company's success," Muhtar said in a statement.

Benfield led development of the Red Robin Royalty loyalty program.

"We're looking forward to seeing Dana apply her leadership and marketing expertise as we guide the Red Robin brand to new heights,” Muhtar said.

Prior to joining Red Robin in 2002, Benfield served as an account manager for Karsh & Hagan Advertising, where she managed the Denver-region marketing programs for McDonald's.

Red Robin has 570 restaurants across the U.S. and Canada.
