Famous Dave’s of America Inc. on Thursday named Alfredo Martel the chain’s new chief marketing officer.
Martel comes to the Minneapolis-based barbecue chain from Caribou Coffee, where he was chief operating officer of international.
Martel will be responsible for overall brand strategy and innovation at Famous Dave’s, as well as marketing, advertising and public relations.
“Alfredo has a proven track record of delivering a cohesive brand management strategy that focuses on utilizing assets wisely to generate strong ROI for food and beverage businesses,” Famous Dave’s CEO Adam Wright said in a statement.
“Alfredo’s expertise is vital as we focus on improving our workplace culture, growing our brand, and giving our guests the best barbecue experience. We are truly excited to have Alfredo on board as our chief marketing officer and look forward to leveraging his vast skillset as we continue on our mission to revitalize Famous Dave’s.”
Before he became chief operating officer, Martel spent six years as senior vice president in various product innovation and marketing roles with the coffee chain. Famous Dave’s said that Martel during that time helped create a series of brand reinvention and activation platforms that helped reinvigorate Caribou’s business.
Martel also has experience with KFC and its parent company Yum! Brands.
