Ned Lyerly promoted to lead aggressive growth overseas

CKE Restaurant Holdings Inc. has promoted Ned Lyerly to the newly created role of president of its international division, from executive vice president of international, the company said Wednesday.

Lyerly has been with Carpinteria, Calif.-based CKE for three decades, and helped build the company’s portfolio of international locations by 100 restaurants in the past year.

In June, CKE opened its 600th location outside the U.S., a Hardee’s unit in Astana, Kazakhstan. The company has aggressive international growth plans, including the opening of 1,000 Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s locations overseas by 2017.

“Under Ned’s leadership, the international division has doubled in the past five years, and for the past three years, 63 percent of our new restaurant development has occurred in international markets,” Andrew Puzder, CKE’s chief executive, said in a statement. “Demonstrating equal parts diplomacy, business savvy and sheer determination, Ned personifies our company’s commitment to our franchise partners and the growth of our system.”

In prior roles at CKE, Lyerly held executive positions in global franchise development, international finance and marketing, and financial planning and analysis.

CKE operates or franchises 3,498 restaurants under the Carl’s Jr. and Hardee’s brands in 42 states and 31 foreign countries and U.S. territories.
