20 executives on the move at restaurants in August

From McDonald’s to the NRA to Burger King, see which companies had people changing positions last month

August saw several top-level executives both leave and begin new positions in the restaurant world. In perhaps the biggest news of the month, the National Restaurant Association said on the last day of the month that it would lose its CEO. Elsewhere, Fuzzy’s Taco Shop, Pokeworks and Pizza Hut all named new CEOs.

Burger King promoted an internal executive to the role of president. Wingstop named a new president and COO to serve under CEO Charlie Morrison. The company also named a new chief financial officer.

Fast-casual darling Sweetgreen hired Starbucks’ former senior vice president of technology services to serve as chief technology officer while quick-service chain Qdoba promoted an executive to the role of chief operating officer.

That wasn’t the only COO promotion; Topgolf named a new COO for U.S. venues as well.

Plus, McDonald’s made some big executive changes internationally and domestically, including the promotion of U.S. chief marketing officer and the naming of her successor.

Check out which other executives were on the move this month.
