February may be the shortest month of the year but there were still plenty of executive changes across restaurants’ C-suites — and many of the roles were taken over by women, which is a change for the industry.
Chief among the female-led C-suite moves was 2021 Nation’s Restaurant News Power Lister Tracy Skeans, who was promoted to chief operating officer of Yum Brands from her previous position of chief people officer. Pressed Juicery also named a female chief marketing officer, Little Caesars announced the appointment of a female COO and Tropical Smoothie Café’s new chief development officer is a woman.
But those weren’t the only promotions. IHOP announced a new CMO from Marriot, BurgerFi named a former fitness industry exec its COO, Clean Juice promoted its new chief development officer internally, Taco John’s named a former finance executive its chief financial officer and Blaze Pizza announced a former P.F. Chang’s executive would be its chief technology officer.
There was also a new CEO announced in the month of February at Culver’s.
In other news, Punch Bowl Social, the “eatertainment” concept that declared bankruptcy during the pandemic, announced not only that it hired a chief restructuring officer but that it was also looking for buyers.
