Working Lunch: Restaurant industry getting caught in packaging squeeze

As demand for delivery increases, operators are finding themselves in a difficult position

The war on packaging is heating up, and California is poised to set a new marker that may change the lifecycle of the issue. In an age of increasing delivery demands by consumers, operators are finding themselves in a very difficult position. Align Public Strategies discusses that with Shannon Crawford, the director of state government affairs for the Washington, D.C.-based Plastics Industry Association.

In other news, online retailer Wayfair had a tough week with many of its employees protesting some of the company’s business engagements, which were potentially sensitive politically. Wayfair executives’ response did themselves no favor but may have done a big one for other companies unfortunately demonstrating what not to do in a crisis. The Align team takes a deep dive into that and wraps up the episode with the legislative scorecard.

Align Public Strategies is a full-service public affairs and creative firm that helps corporate brands, governments and non-profit organizations navigate the outside world and inform their internal decision-making.
