Hobart introduced its CLeN Conveyor Warewasher that features drain-water energy recovery. Heat is transferred from waste water and used to pre-heat the incoming water, said Caleb Clarke, Hobart’s director of sales and operations for Warewash and waste. The washer also reduces the temperature of the drain water, reducing energy use and saving on water consumption.
Ecolab expanded on its insect control program with the introduction of the energy-saving Stealth LED Fly Light trap. Rakim Turnipseed (pictured), Ecolab’s principal entomologist, said the new trap uses 60-percent less energy, and the shatterproof lights, which protect food safety, last three years. The Fly Light also eliminates high-voltage ballast and fluorescent bulbs.
TurboChef’s Double Batch ventless impingement oven employs two independently controlled high-speed cooking cavities to maximize throughput. It also is only 27 inches wide, reducing the kitchen real estate, and cuts energy consumption.
The baking cavities are controlled by a split-screen, Wi-Fi connected touch controller. It also features an oscillating rack to speed cooking.
QuiQsilver introduced its Roll-O-Matic silverware rolling machine, which wraps forks, knives and spoons in napkins at the rate of 500 sets an hour. Markus Q. Bishop (pictured), president of QuiQsilver, said the Silverware Rolling Machine leases for about $600 a month. It also neatly rolls and bands chopsticks. Bishop said the Roll-O-Matic reduces labor and an built-in ultraviolet light sanitizes each set as it rolls.
Standex Refrigerated Solutions Group, from Nor-Lake and Master-Bilt, introduced a keg management system for bar walk-in coolers. The keg management system deploys a suspended track and electric hoist, along with cantilevered shelving, that allows employees to easily lift and move 160-pound kegs. A digital scale helps inventory kegs that are partially filled.
