Red Robin Gourmet Burgers Inc. has acquired 13 of its franchised restaurants in Texas with plans to expand further into that market, the company said Monday.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the company has completed the purchase of seven Red Robin units in Houston; two in Dallas; and one restaurant respectively in Lubbock, Austin, Abilene and Amarillo.
The sellers included Cowboy Red LC; Cowgirl Red LLC; Texas Red Real Estate Ltd and affiliates; Robert Reynolds and Carolyn Frost Keenan.
Steve Carley, Red Robin CEO, said in a statement, “This acquisition supports our strategy to expand in markets such as Texas, which provide us strong growth prospects. We would also like to welcome almost 800 new members to the Red Robin corporate family and offer them an opportunity for continued growth as well.”
Based in Greenwood Village, Colo., the Red Robin Gourmet Burgers and Brews chain included 429 company-owned locations and 99 franchised units as of the end of fiscal 2015. The parent company also operates 10 locations of the fast-casual Red Robin Burger Works concept.
