NRN Restaurant and Food Group names new leadership

Aharon Shamash and Sarah Lockyer join leading foodservice brands

The NRN Restaurant and Food Group, part of Informa’s KNect 365 content division, appointed two new executives — Aharon Shamash and Sarah Lockyer —  to strengthen its leadership team.

The NRN Restaurant and Food Group includes the leading business-to-business brands Nation’s Restaurant News, Supermarket News, Restaurant Hospitality, Food Management, and the MUFSO conference.

Aharon Shamash, left, now leads the group as KNect365 New York managing director. In this role, he directly oversees the sales team to drive new business opportunities and strengthen the group’s advertiser and sponsor solutions offerings. Group sales director Kent Scholla will report to him.

Starting Nov. 1, Sarah Lockyer will join the business as group publisher, focusing on brand leadership, product development, events, promotion and partner relationships. Reporting to Shamash, Lockyer will oversee the marketing, content, and client success and solutions teams.

“I am very excited about the future potential to help shift the NRN Restaurant and Food Group to a position of further strength and growth,” said Shamash. “There are many opportunities within our diverse portfolio to build these influential brands, leveraging Informa’s custom digital and live-event capabilities, and also in partnership with Catersource, especially as more restaurants shift to off-premise strategies.”

Shamash has extensive experience in B2B events and media, most recently as senior vice president of transformation and managing director at UBM, where he oversaw the catering, chemical and cruise portfolios. Informa acquired live events company UBM in June.

Shamash is also currently responsible for Informa’s Catersource Conference & Tradeshow, the Meetings Group, and the Insights, Marketing & Innovation group within KNect365.

“We are delighted to be a part of the KNect 365 New York group. As the leading educational resource for caterers, Catersource offers restauranteurs the knowledge they seek to grow their business. In partnership with the NRN Restaurant and Food Group, building value for customers is our top priority,” said Scott Dominguez, Catersource brand director.

Lockyer, left, joins the NRN group most recently from Winsight, where she was senior vice president of content in foodservice, c-stores and grocery for the last two years. Previously, she was executive director of content at the NRN Restaurant Group and editor in chief of Nation’s Restaurant News, where she worked for 12 years.

“I am thrilled to return to the leading media brands in foodservice at a time of growth, backed by the resources of global B2B leader Informa and its KNect365 group,” said Lockyer.

“Together with our partners, NRN and its sister brands will continue to connect operators and suppliers to drive business success and further the industries we independently and authentically serve.”

Jenna Telesca, editor-in-chief of Nation’s Restaurant News and Restaurant Hospitality, and Becky Schilling, editor-in-chief of Supermarket News and Food Management, will continue their great work and report to Lockyer, along with Tanja Jacobsen, marketing director, and Jason Bogovic, director of client success and solutions.

Monique Monaco, managing director of restaurant events, will continue to lead the group’s live-event portfolio.
