Chili’s really smashed it with the Big Smasher burger as part of its Better-Value-Than-Fast-Food $10.99 platform. Brinker International said the casual-dining brand finished the year with same-store sales up 14.8% at Chili’s, which included a 5.9% increase in traffic.

Flynn Group, the largest franchise operator in the world, just got a little larger. The group founded and led by Greg Flynn said Thursday it has acquired another 83 Wendy’s units in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, which brings Flynn’s Wendy’s portfolio to 277 restaurants in six states and Washington, D.C.
