TAMPA, FLA. Checkers Drive-In Restaurants Inc. will offer Dale Earnhardt Sr. commemorative cups at most of its Checkers and Rally’s Hamburgers units as a tie-in to “Dale,” a documentary about the legendary NASCAR driver. —
The 42-ounce cups, which will be available through the end of April, “will not only help to continue the Dale legacy but offer our guests, many of whom are Dale fans, the opportunity to take home a piece of the film,” said Jason Wonderly, Checkers’ sports marketing manager. —
The film includes archival race footage, family home videos and interviews with family and friends of Earnhardt, who died in a crash during the 2001 Daytona 500 race. —
“Dale” will premiere in selected cities on the 2007 NASCAR Nextel Cup series. —
Checkers, which operates or franchises 800 double drive-thru restaurants, is the Official Burger and Drive-Thru Restaurant of NASCAR. —
