Where are travel websites going with restaurant reservation business? (Forbes)
TripAdvisor, the travel review company, last month bought French reservation website LaFourchette for $140 million. Priceline, the online travel agency, this month bought OpenTable for $2.6 billion. Among reasons for the acquisitions are slowing growth of digital sales in the highly competitive travel market and the increasing adoption of online reservations by diners and restaurants due to the convenience, efficiency and discounts offered.
