Bice plans 3 concepts for Kansas City

KANSAS CITY Mo. Bice Restaurant Group will open a fast-casual cafe and two other restaurant concepts within the Power & Light District entertainment complex here, according to the district’s developer, The Cordish Co.

Bice will manage 8,600 square feet of foodservice space in total, Cordish said. In addition to the 1,200-square-foot Bice Cafe, the two-story dining area will include a 6,000-square-foot, full-service Bice Bistro and a 1,200-square-foot Bice Lounge.

The lounge will feature wines and a pared-down selection of the bistro’s menu items. The cafe will offer pastas, Italian sandwiches and gelato, Cordish said in a statement.

Bice operates 40 fine-dining and mid-scale dining facilities on five continents, including more than a dozen namesake Italian eateries.

“We are making a significant commitment to Kansas City with not just one concept, but with three, and this is because we truly believe in Kansas City’s revitalization efforts and the ensured success of the Kansas City Power & Light District,” Bice president Raffaele Ruggeri said in a statement.

The $850 million district, a nine-block stretch of residences, hotels, restaurants and nightlife attractions, is being developed in partnership with Kansas City and the state of Missouri, according to Cordish. Other planned restaurant tenants include Howl at the Moon, Famous Dave’s, Gordon Biersch and Chipotle.
