The new vendor from Food Network personality Sunny Anderson features new spins on classic American comfort foods, including nacho skins (pictured) loaded with shredded chicken, black beans, bacon, scallions, sour cream, nacho sauce, and jalapeños. The vendor will also offer classic baked macaroni and cheese with elbow pasta, and campfire parfaits for dessert, which are layered with marshmallows, marshmallow spread, chocolate hazelnut mousse, salted dulce de leche and crumbled graham crackers.
Featuring slightly lighter fare than some of the more indulgent cheesy, fried and orange-icing’d options at Citi Field, Chef Marc Murphy has put together an abbreviated menu of Italian-American sandwiches. The Italian Salsa Verde features porchetta with basil, parsley, Italian seasonings and homemade chips; while the chicken burger is topped with porchetta, provolone, dijonnaise sauce, and homemade potato chips.
“For me it was all about putting something together that I would want to eat at a game,” chef Murphy said during a pre-season preview at Citi Field “I think the porchetta sandwich is perfect with a beer.”
One of the local, regional restaurants Citi Field is working with for the 2023 season, Chiddy’s started out as a food truck in Bay Shore, New York, and has since opened three storefronts throughout Long Island. The brand, which has been voted #1 cheesesteak by Best of LI two years in a row, is offering their classic Philadelphia-style cheesesteak topped with steak, onions, peppers, mushrooms, provolone and cheese wiz; as well as a simplified version called the Citi Fielder topped with steak, onions and wiz.
Another one of the new vendors at Citi Field this year is Fresco’s Grand Cantina, which is offering a ropa vieja quesadilla with shredded beef, melted four cheese blend in a flour tortilla, topped with Chipotle mayo and sour cream; and churro nachos for dessert (tortilla chips sprinkled with cinnamon sugar, dulce le leche, vanilla syrup, powdered sugar and whipped cream).
Fresco’s Grand Cantina is a Queens-native concept, located just a 10-minute drive from Citi Field.
Although Jacob’s Pickles — a Southern comfort food restaurant specializing in pickles on the Upper West Side in Manhattan — is a returning vendor this year, the concept is offering a new indulgent menu item: a fried chicken doughnut sandwich. The fried chicken breast is slathered in honey barbecue sauce and nestled between two halves of a glazed doughnut. The brand is also offering classic batter-fried Oreos.
Shake Shack has been a Citi Field mainstay for several years now, but for the 2023 season, the popular burger and shakes brand is offering a Citi Field-exclusive Mets MVP Shake: a vanilla and chocolate custard blend with chocolate chip and vanilla cookies, and topped with cookie crumble and blue and orange sprinkles.
There are plenty of other new food options for Mets fans this year, including Beyond Nightlife Sushi selling a variety of sushi rolls and a sushi burrito; New York City-based Asian-Mexican fusion spot Takumi Taco, selling a spicy tuna taco and Chicken Tinga taco; and Tang, a Korean spot selling a bulgogi rice cup.
