Serrano peppers are the hotter cousin of jalapenos hailing from the mountainous states of Mexico.

It’s gaining traction on menus but is still considered unique. It can be found at independent casual dining and progressive fast casual restaurants.

Also, California Pizza Kitchen, in Playa Vista, Calif., serves Spicy Milano Pizza, prepared with a thin crust topped with spicy marinara, serrano peppers, Italian sausage, spicy pepperoni, Cremini mushrooms, yellow onions, fresh mozzarella and Romano, and Greek oregano.
