Harissa is found across North Africa — and in more American restaurants.

It’s gaining traction on menus but is still considered unique. It can be found at independent casual-dining and progressive fast-casual restaurants.

Harissa can be used as a dressing or condiment for salads and sandwiches, and in sauces and glazes.

Harissa provides the opportunity to embrace a trendy, global ingredient and appeal to heat lovers everywhere.

Harissa can punch up many dishes, including the baked harissa chicken entrée here. Meanwhile, Wingstop, based in the Dallas area, offers Harissa Lemon Pepper Wings — wings with harissa pepper paste, red bell peppers and lemon.
