Yogurtland announces plans for new fast-casual restaurant, Holsom by Yogurtland, to open in Huntington Beach, Calif., in mid-November

Quick-service frozen yogurt brand will expand into grain bowls and toasts with new concept

Irvine, Calif.-based Yogurtland on Tuesday announced plans for its new fast-casual concept, Holsom by Yogurtland. The restaurant is set to open in mid-November in Huntington Beach, Calif.

Created after “extensive research and development efforts to understand and address the customers’ wants and needs,” according to a release, the new fast-casual unit will include a menu with items from toasts to grain bowls to the signature frozen yogurt and toppings of the parent brand.

“Our team has been working hard to develop this fantastic concept designed to offer high quality, approachable, gourmet food options at a value-driven price to be experienced in a uniquely Yogurtland way,” said Sam Yoon, senior vice president of Yogurtland, in a statement. “We’re extremely excited to introduce the community to the new expanded dining experience that will allow our guests to indulge their creativity and create flavors that are as unique as themselves.”

The menu will be divided into “sweet” and “savory.” The savory portion will have Everything Egg Toast, Roasted Tomato Basil Toast, Southwest Crunch Toast and made-to-order grain bowls in Classic, Thai Peanut, Greek and Chipotle Southwest. The sweet side of the menu will include Sweet Ricotta & Berry Toast with fresh blueberries, and customizable sweet bowls such as Strawberry Banana Granola or Peanut Butter with acai and sweetened chia pudding as base options.

“For our guests, coming to Yogurtland has always been about the experience,” Yoon said. “Holsom by Yogurtland will differentiate itself from the sea of fast-casual brands by extending the Yogurtland experience of customizing unique creations beyond frozen yogurt to bowls, toast and beverages.”

New drinks have also been added to the traditional Yogurtland menu, including Strawberry Lemonade Fresca, Strawberry Mint Sparkler and Pineapple Green Tea.

The new concept was in the works long before the pandemic but has new features to account for COVID’s impact on the industry, including contactless ordering and pickup, curbside pickup and patio seating.

As of 2020, there are about 280 Yogurtland locations internationally, down from 308 at the end of 2019.
