Sweetgreen pilots another loyalty program

On the heels of Sweetpass, the fast-casual restaurant is testing another rewards program

Sweetgreen, the Los Angeles-based fast-casual salad restaurant, on Monday announced another loyalty app prototype for its customers. This latest pilot comes in the wake of the chain’s Sweetpass test in January and the introduction of its app in late 2021.

Rewards and Challenges, the new loyalty program, is a digital program offered through the chain’s app and website and will include challenges as part of the “Summer of Rewards,” which will last for four weeks from June 27 through July 24.

“We see Rewards and Challenges as a way to double-down on owned digital relationships and create a more personalized experience for our customers,” said co-founder and CEO Jonathan Neman in a statement. “With approximately two-thirds of our Q1 2022 digital sales coming from owned digital channels, we’re excited to take this next step in our journey of re-envisioning the future of loyalty at Sweetgreen.”

To mark the program’s launch, the brand will offer users 50% off their next bowl or plate after purchasing a bowl or plate. Additional “challenges” throughout the summer will include:

  • Spend $20 and receive a $4 credit on your next purchase;
  • Add a side item to your order and receive a free beverage;
  • Buy a personalized online exclusive bowl and receive 50% off your next bowl or plate; and
  • Order delivery and receive free delivery on your next order.

The brand has also partnered with TikTok creator Emmanuel Duverneau for a marketing campaign.

Sweetgreen currently has over 160 restaurants across the U.S.
