Mendocino Farms set to pass 50-unit mark

Fast-casual brand is scheduled to open its 51st restaurant on Nov. 22 in Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood

Mendocino Farms LLC plans to open its ninth new location this year, bringing the fast-casual concept to 51 units in California and Texas, the company said this week.

The next opening, planned for Nov. 22 in Dallas’ Preston Hollow neighborhood, a company representative said. The company opened its first restaurant in 2020 and, with this opening, will have five units in the area.

“When we opened our first location in downtown Dallas, we sought to be a go-to for the community, and it’s been incredible to see Mendocino Farms become that gathering place," said Kevin Miles, CEO of Mendocino Farms, in a statement.

The company underwent a rebranding in January that stripped “Sandwich Market” from its name and introduced new uniforms.

The company has opened nine new restaurants this year.

To celebrate the grand opening and cultivate smartphone app usage, customers prior to the Nov. 22 opening can redeem an offer for a free entrée with any menu purchase by signing up for a My Mendo account and selecting "DFW-Preston Hollow" as a favorite location.

“We’re encouraging our guests to try flavors they’ve never had before,” Miles said, “which is why we have our ‘foodie pledge’ – if they order something they don’t like, they can try another dish on the house.”

For the month of November, Mendocino Farms units have brought back the Thanksgiving-themed “November to Remember” sandwich, featuring carved turkey, mushroom-turkey sausage stuffing, spicy cranberry chutney, havarti, herb aioli and shredded romaine on cranberry rustic white bread. For every $12.75 (in the Dallas market) sandwich sold, 25 cents will be donated to No Kid Hungry, the national nonprofit.

Los Angeles-based Mendocino Farms, founded in 2005 by Mario Del Pero and Ellen Chen, received an investment from Whole Foods Market Inc. in 2015.

The brand has 50 locations in California and Texas, including several delivery-only locations, such as one in Oakland, Calif. The company has announced plans for the new market of Seattle, Wash.
