How one female leader is prioritizing mental health

Michelle Bythewood, president of Salata, joins the podcast this week to discuss her tenure; plus, NRN editors discuss earnings, PPP loan forgiveness and McDonald’s latest campaign

The Nation’s Restaurant News team kicks off this week’s episode of Extra Serving talking about  — what else — earnings season. From McDonald’s awesome second quarter to the future of pandemic “winners” like Domino’s and Wingstop, the team covers it all.

Editor-in-chief Sam Oches, associate editor Joanna Fantozzi and digital editor Holly Petre also talk about the new PPP loan forgiveness program and McDonald’s latest celebrity collaboration with Saweetie. That campaign follows on the heels of the massively successful BTS that brought McDonald’s to a 25.5% quarterly same-store sales increase in the U.S.

This week, Petre interviewed the president of Salata, Michelle Bythewood. Bythewood has only been president of Salata for two and a half years, but she is using her skills to change the company – for the better. Since she began her tenure in 2019, the brand has undergone a complete refresh, launched a new tech suite and begun offering mental health days.
