Established Genghis Grill Franchisee invests in brand’s new development strategy

Prominent Create-Your-Own Bowl Concept Announces Multi-Unit Signed Franchise Agreement in Washoe County with longtime Franchisee

Genghis Grill, the nation’s leading create-your-own bowl concept, has announced today a signed three-unit franchise deal in Reno with existing Genghis Grill franchisee Kevin Green. The first location is set to open this year and the additional locations are scheduled to open over the next two years.

The three-unit deal was inked as a part of Genghis Grill’s recently announced franchisee incentive, launched to help prospective entrepreneurs get a jumpstart with their new business. Available to both single and multi-unit franchisees, the incentive offers a reduced franchise fee, waived development fees, and up to $150,000 in royalties waived over the initial two years open.

“Our first Genghis location is a massive hit in the community, with many coming in several times a week for our fresh and customizable meals,” said Green. “When I saw the available franchisee incentive opportunity, I knew it was the perfect time to expand to serve even more guests and local organizations in Reno and the surrounding communities.”

Born and raised in Reno, Green began his journey with Genghis Grill as a general manager in an existing Reno location in 2011. He took over ownership in 2018, achieving the location’s highest sales in the first two years after the transfer. The location has continued to top out sales every year with Green as its leader with the support of his wife. His mission with the next three locations is to utilize the skills built over the last 11 years to build more opportunities for his staff and make Genghis Grill a unique build-your-own concept the go-to staple for residents.

The timing was right for this expansion deal, given Genghis Grill’s new leadership and a renewed vision for growth. The brand is shifting its focus away from the former Mongolian Stir-Fry roots and repositioning itself as a world-class all-around bowl restaurant. The new strategy takes the brand in a fast-casual direction, with quicker service, smaller footprint and a strong focus on off-premise dining.

“Kevin and his team are well-qualified to continue to grow the brand throughout Reno and hold the experience in business ownership that we seek out in our franchise owners,” said Gregg Majewski, Chief Executive Officer of Genghis Grill. “Our mission with the franchisee incentive was to provide entrepreneurs with the tools they need for ongoing success. With these benefits, he is ready to establish his new Genghis Grrill locations in Reno as the top spot for fresh, hot and healthy bowls. We know Kevin has confidence in our new strategy for growth, and the timing couldn’t be better to expand in Washoe County.”

Launched 24 years ago in Dallas, Texas, Genghis offers fans broad appeal and caters to various flavor preferences and lifestyles by offering keto, gluten-free, low-carb, vegan and vegetarian options. In 2018, Genghis put a focus on brand reimaging, heightened customer service, improved food quality and even more operational excellence to continue to refine the customer experience. Recently, the brand has added new service options and new flavors with Chef-curated bowls for easy ordering, featuring flavors from a variety of genres, including traditional Asian-fusion, Tex-Mex Italian and more.

“Genghis Grill is an innovative casual dining model that is meeting the needs of today’s modernized consumer preferences,” said Rich Guckel, Director of Franchising. “The new incentive provides the perfect opportunity for restaurant franchisees and investors to add a concept with staying power to their franchise portfolio, just like Kevin.”

The brand is actively awarding locations to qualified individuals such as Green who are looking to get in on the ground floor of a refreshed, reenergized concept. Ideal franchisees are sophisticated, well-qualified operators who have restaurant management  and development experience with the bandwidth to open multiple locations. Depending on the geography, the size of the store, the configuration of the store and several other determining factors, the investment per store ranges from $346,600 to $973,500.
