Playa Bowls has a new CEO.

Dan Harmon named CEO of Playa Bowls

The former Smoothie King COO succeeds co-founder Rob Giuliani

Dan Harmon has been named CEO of Playa Bowls, a chain of more than 175 restaurants specializing in açaí bowls and similar health-focused items based in Belmar, N.J.

Most recently he was chief operating officer of Smoothie King. Prior to that he held franchising and operational roles at Papa Murphy’s, Potbelly, Blockbuster and McDonald’s. At Playa Bowls he replaces co-founder Rob Giuliani, who is taking the role of chief innovation officer.

“Harmon has an exceptional reputation for exceeding business objectives and franchisee relationships in the restaurant industry and will be a valuable asset as we continue to grow and develop our company,” Giuliani said in a press release announcing Harmon’s appointment. “Throughout his career, Dan Harmon has established himself as a leader who builds strong teams, drives great business results, and develops trust with team members and franchisees. We’re incredibly honored to have someone of his caliber join the Playa Bowls team.”
