NRN editors discuss the sale of Del Taco to Jack in the Box, New York City’s vaccine requirement for workers and Christmastime

Plus, hear from football star Victor Cruz about his new investment in restaurant chain Krystal

This week on the Nation’s Restaurant News podcast, Extra Serving, editors Holly Petre, Leigh Anne Zinsmeister and Sam Oches discussed the recent sale of Del Taco to Jack in the Box. Earlier this week, quick-service chain Jack in the Box acquired the quick-service Mexican chain Del Taco. The brand had previously owned a Mexican limited-service brand, Qdoba Mexican Eats, which it sold off in 2018 after 15 years of ownership. Check out what the team thinks of this move and what it could mean for the market. Will we see Jack in the Box go on to purchase another brand?

Also, the NRN editors discussed the recent news that New York City would require vaccinations for employees of private businesses. What does it mean for companies that have already had to face so much these past few years? The team discussed the implications of this for the restaurant industry.

Plus, the team spoke about Christmas in New York and gave some recommendations.

This week’s guest is Victor Cruz, former football star who has recently partnered with Krystal to become a restaurant franchisee.

If you have a restaurant that’s decorated for the holidays, send me an e-mail at [email protected], it may make it on the website.
