Four years ago, Nation’s Restaurant News started its award-winning signature podcast, Extra Serving. Now, we’re part of a network of podcasts that includes Take-Away and First Bite. On December 9th, NRN will be celebrating its 200th episode of Extra Serving.
In four years, hosts Holly Petre, Sam Oches, and Leigh Anne Zinsmeister – along with a rotating cast of the NRN editorial staff – have entertained and interviewed guests, joked with each other, and told you the latest news in the restaurant industry. We’ve even broken some news about the Restaurant Revitalization Fund on the podcast before thanks to senior editor Joanna Fantozzi.
This year held many milestones in addition to the 200th episode. NRN editors interviewed guests ranging from Frances Allen to Jet Tila to Andrew Zimmern to Amy Alarcon. The editors discussed the RRF, the midterm elections and big deals like Amazon buying a stake in Grubhub, the viral chicken sandwich from Popeyes with the brand’s chef, restaurants closing Russian units, and more.
