TRA names officers for 2007-08 term

AUSTIN Texas Carmelo Mauro of Carmelo’s Italian Restaurant in Houston and Austin was named president of the Texas Restaurant Association for the 2007-2008 term now underway.

Other newly appointed TRA officers include: Gerard Cace of Johnny Cace’s Seafood & Steak House in Longview as president-elect; Mark Maguire of Maguire’s Restaurant Concepts in Dallas and Bob Westbook of WR Ventures Inc., a CiCi’s Pizza franchisee in Tyler, both as vice presidents; and Lisa Perini of Perini Ranch Steakhouse in Buffalo Gap as secretary-treasurer.

“The quality of these leaders reflects how highly the TRA is regarded in the industry,” said Richie Jackson, executive vice president and chief executive of the TRA, which is based here. “We are truly fortunate that such high-caliber people choose to be involved, to give generously of their time and expertise.”

The restaurant industry in Texas generates about $32 billion and has about 55,000 locations with more than 905,000 employees, according to Jackson.
