LONGMONT Colo. The owners of Ziggi's Coffee House here are using Internet-accessible, video surveillance of their business for security reasons and to monitor sales trends and employee activity when they are off site, according to service provider Envysion Inc.
"We keep a computer in our kitchen at home and keep one eye on the business in the evening," said Brandon Knudsen, who co-owns Ziggi's with his wife Camrin. "It's also great to review recorded video on the Envysion system and track who was working and what our actual sales were during a given time," said the operator, who added, "The purpose of the system isn't to catch my employees doing something wrong but rather to reveal those individuals who are doing their job well so I can replicate it."
Louisville, Colo.-based Envysion's subscription-based service permits users to view live and recorded video of their operations collected by strategically placed cameras from any web-enabled personal computer.
