Police stake out and catch eatery’s ‘Gin and Tonic Bandit’

BLOOMINGTON, IND. —The Gin and Tonic Bandit’s days of eating, drinking and skipping out on the bill may be over, the Associated Press recently reported.

According to the AP, a man who reportedly frequented the same restaurant every Wednesday, ordered two drinks and a ribeye steak and then skipped out on his $25.96 check, was arrested for theft and resisting law enforcement, police said. —The Gin and Tonic Bandit’s days of eating, drinking and skipping out on the bill may be over, the Associated Press recently reported.

Waitstaff said that the man would excuse himself to use the restroom whenever the bill was presented and then would slip out without paying. On his last visit, however, employees confronted him. He said he would pay by check, but the employees told him the restaurant didn’t except checks.
