Perkins working with credit security technology

News

MEMPHIS Tenn. Family-restaurant operator Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, based here, is using Merchant Link's TransactionVault payment card security technology to reduce the risk of theft of sensitive data and fraud at 330 company and franchised locations nationwide.

The hosted TransactionVault technology service from Silver Spring, Md.-based Merchant Link works with the Micros Systems Inc. model 3700 point-of-sale systems used at the participating Perkins units. As payment cards are swiped at a POS system terminal, the TransactionVault technology encrypts sensitive data and moves them across a network to a secure virtual 'vault' to accommodate the authorization process without the need to store card information at the store level, thereby reducing the overall risk of data theft and fraud, Merchant Link said.

"Given Merchant Link's longtime, close working relationship with Micros, we were able to test and install TransactionVault across the country in a matter of a few short months," explained Carla Bray, Perkins director of restaurant automation. "Since 1999, when Perkins first began working with Merchant Link, we have been pleased with their technological savvy and their cost and time efficient approach to getting the job done."
