FSTEC 2010 to focus on more educational, exclusive content

NEW YORK —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N. Grimes of Accuvia have released FSTEC version 3.0, featuring a foodservice industry-leading education program developed in conjunction with new conference research partner Forrester Research Inc., an independent technology market research firm.

The 15th annual FSTEC foodservice technology conference and showcase—to be held Feb. 21-24, 2010, in Long Beach, Calif.—represents the latest phase in the evolution of the industry’s longest-running technology specialty event. To raise the education program bar to a new level, FSTEC has reached an agreement with Forrester through which the Cambridge, Mass.-based organization will provide the conference with analysts who can draw on their company’s world-renowned research to lead panels, present sessions and offer keynote speeches across multiple topic tracks. —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N. “Forrester’s contributions to FSTEC 2010 represent a natural extension of the conference’s mission since 1996 to educate operators about technology trends, showcase new products, and support networking and the sharing of best practices,” Accuvia’s Grimes said. —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N. Representing a logical next step for FSTEC, he added, is the addition in 2010 of “Suppliers Only,” an FSTEC exclusive designed to give technology manufacturers, resellers and services providers a vendor-oriented educational experience of their own. —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N. “Information technology professionals can’t miss this event and its presentation of information critical to their success, including Forrester Research data and insights, as well as business-growth strategies,” said Randall Friedman, publisher of NRN. “Our efforts to secure even more authoritative content providers and to feature suppliers of technology with the potential to help foodservice businesses thrive in challenging times make FSTEC the only choice among foodservice technology events in 2010.” —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N. FSTEC 2010’s theme is “IGNITE GROWTH,” and Friedman said that the conference development team has taken those two words to heart. “Foodservice operators long have used technology to enhance efficiency and cut costs, but we’re working to secure as many presenters and vendors as we can whose messages are about building sales in the toughest economic environment in generations,” he explained. —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N. Grimes said networking, too, will be enhanced at FSTEC 2010, as more functions will be held in the showcase area, where there will be a major FSTEC 15th Anniversary Celebration. “Speed Networking,” a program to bring leading operators and suppliers together for brief, one-on-one meetings to determine if and how each might aid the other, is also on the agenda, he noted. —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N. “This is a first not only for FSTEC,” Grimes said of Speed Networking, “it is a first for the foodservice technology events arena, overall.” —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N. Grimes added of FSTEC, with its rich history of conference innovation and additions for 2010, “There is no other event in the foodservice industry that offers all of the various facets and opportunities that FSTEC does—FSTEC truly addresses the needs of all interested parties in foodservice technology like no other show can.” —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N. Among FSTEC v3.0’s numerous new features—including a new logo and look—is a simple but powerful update: new, more standardized exhibit-space sizes. “We’re clearly making it easier for suppliers, small and large, alike, to be at FSTEC,” NRN’s Friedman said of the new approach to booth space. The update is intended to let vendors focus on serving operators, as opposed to worrying about getting caught up in an exhibit build-out battle. —Nation’s Restaurant News and Robert N.
