Church's franchises 20 units in Denver area

DENVER Laredo, Texas-based Pollos Del Centro has secured franchise rights to build 20 Church's Chicken restaurants in the Denver metropolitan area by the year 2013. The first two are expected to open by the end of this year.

Pollos' market territory includes the Denver suburbs of Aurora, Commerce City and Lakewood, and the city of Colorado Springs. The plan is to build free-standing units ranging in size from 1,500 to 2,000 square feet with a drive-thru window.

Pollos Del Centro is a subsidiary of Texas-based Exelco Inc., owned by Ricardo Longoria. Longoria also own the Alfri-Loder Group, a Nuevo Laredo, Mexico company comprising businesses in the foodservice, automotive, butane gas, transportation and real estate industries. It employs and estimated 3,000 people reportedly generate annual gross sales of more than $140 million.

Church's, based in Atlanta, has systemwide sales exceeding $1 billion and more than 1,600 locations in 18 countries.
