Beautiful Brands adds Caz’s to portfolio

TULSA Okla. Caz’s Chowhouse, an independent casual-dining restaurant here that specializes in southern and comfort food, has hired Beautiful Brands International, also based in Tulsa, to help it sell franchises.

BBI chief executive David Rutkauskas said the company would consult with Caz’s about franchise development, legal issues, real estate, architecture and construction as well as product development and marketing.

He estimated that the franchised locations would cost about $350,000 to build for 2,500 square-foot restaurants with 80 to 85 seats. This is BBI’s first experience working with a casual-dining concept, but Rutkauskas said he anticipated an average check of around $11.

Rutkauskas said he planned to sign deals for 12 to 15 Caz’s by the end of 2009 and hoped to open six or seven units by the end of 2010, probably in Oklahoma and surrounding states.

BBI currently franchises about 140 restaurants worldwide, including 130 Camille’s Sidwalk Café units. Its other concepts are Coney Beach, Rex Chicken, FreshBerry Frozen Yogurt Café, Greenz, Kyro Pizza, Dixie Cream Donuts and The Crusty Croissant.
